Party, Party, Party!!

I don't know if this pic of a costume party was taken during prohibition, but if it was, they were sure enjoying themselves!

Glass Negative

This is one of the treasures that I found at the 1st Toronto Image Show.  I added a bit of sepia toning, but it is otherwise unaltered.

New Arrivals...

Found these images at one of our local establishments, Grace Brothers' Antiques.  Steve and Ron are always helpful.  I was fortunate enough to find 3 local images, shown here in chronological order:

From the collection of John Rochon
The young couple above were captured at the studio of G.B. Robson of Petrolea (Petrolia), ON in the 1890's.

This large grouping was taken by W.A. Couse of Sarnia, ON somtime between 1910 and 1920.  Could it be a graduating class from the Sarnia Collegiate Institute?

This fashionable young flapper with her bobbed hair was captured at the studio of Hunter & Bury of Sarnia, ON in the 1920's.

The next photo is a bit of a mystery, as the place stamped on the card is "SOO", which I take as being either Sault Ste. Marie, ON or Sault Ste. Marie, MI - I'm not sure which one, but for the present I am presuming that it originated in Ontario.

This stylish young couple was captured at the Young studio in Sault Ste. Marie, ON (?)

This last (but not least!) photo is sadly by an unknown photographer, but it is so interesting that I had to have it.  To me, it seems to be a wedding party, probably in the early 1920's however, the decorations are very patriotic indeed!

Many thanks to Steve for patiently getting the 'flapper' photo for me from the display window - much appreciated!

New Arrival...

This 6th plate daguerreotype of an elderly man from Kansas just arrived today.  It is stamped with the "H.P. (Standing Eagle) 40" hallmark, which may be french c1850-1858.  The matt is quite thick and heavy.  I am fascinated by the size of his fingers, the result of many years of manual labour, I presume.
